It is your legal right to have Medical Massage Therapy billed to your personal Injury Protection Insurance (PIP) regardless of who was deemed "at fault" for policies in the State of Oregon.

Your PIP covers Medical Massage treatment for motor vehicle related injuries as long as you have a referral from your chiropractor, naturopath, osteopath or medical doctor.

1. Open a claim with your own insurance company and provide the following:

• Insurance company name, address, and phone number
• Adjuster's name and phone number
• Incident claim number 

2. Visit your medical provider: 

• M.D. Primary care doctor
• Orthopedic doctor-surgeon
• D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy)
• Urgent care doctor
• Pain management doctor
• FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner)
• Chiropractor

3. Have your injuries examined and diagnosed.

5. Obtain a prescription from your medical provider. Prescription must include the following:

• Referring physician's full contact info, including NPI#
• Diagnosis code(s)
• Number of sessions prescribed and over what time period
• One or more of the following CPT codes that indicate massage and manual therapy: 97124, 97140 ​

4. Call to book a Motor Vehicle Accident Session and to verify your claim.

Fees are collected from your PIP from your car insurance company. $50 per 15 minute unit is billed for massage therapy sessions. A significant discount is given for payments made at the time of service.
